Can/Am Ch. Gemstone's Wild Like the Wind

Born in 1991, Devon turned into one of the most influential dogs for Gemstone Collies.  His beautiful headpiece, his flowing gait, coupled with his charming personality made him quite popular with the ladies and human friends as well.  Devon produced over 20 champions in both Canada and the US.

In the show ring in Canada, Devon was Best of Breed at 3  national specialties in 1995, 1999 and in 2001.  In 2001 as a veteran, Devon was Best in Specialty to his son, Can/Am Ch. Gemstone's Whirlwind who went Best of Breed (rough) that day.

On the American side, Devon finished quickly with three 5 point majors.  His first major coming as a Best of Opposite to his mother, Can/Am Ch. Gemstone's Bittersweet.  His other two majors were both won under tough competition and specialty judges such as John Honig.  As a special in 1994, Devon was shown briefly and made it into the number spot 10.  His final show that year was the Collie Club of America's national specialty which he was chosen Best of Variety under Mr. Jim Frederiksen.  At this, the most prestigious show of the year, he was handled by Tom Coen.  The two of them made a beautiful pair, they were so exciting to watch compete in such a large class of specials (over 100 smooths).

His son and daughter are continuing  his legacy and we are only hoping that someday we will see another one so good.
